What stroke and bore would be needed to run my 48 g in 3rd gear with 18.4x38 tires, 110% rpm, 20" drawbar, in 5500#-7500# classes. Have years of pulling experience, just wondering if anyone has some ideas. You can email me any information or reply to my post on this thread.

A 6 5/8 X 9 1/4 will only handle 3rd on a really loose or dry track with 18.4x38s in the 5500# (20" hitch). I believe a 6 3/8 X 9 3/4 could handle 3rd on most tracks. You would need something bigger than 7 X 9 1/4 to handle 3rd in the 5500 and 2nd in the 7500 all the time. I know of a nice looking G that can get in the 4500# class and can run 3rd through the 5500 for around $11,000. 573-821-6240

You need to put more info in there, like where you are, cut tires or not, what club(s) you are looking at, etc. Some places run what looks like a 10' chain, have loose tracks, hook it high on the sled (no downforce), etc. you'll see stock stroke A's with PB's running 5-6MPH. That's a long way from a good hooking track with "standardized" chain and sled.

We never even stroked our G, we just bored it out, put on a flat head and did a few other mods and we can run 3rd gear in both 5500 and 6500.
