I usually have my pumpkins by June 15th which already past. I know there is a planter plate from John Deere (part #B27436) for pumpkins available at $55.00 each. I intend to use my JD 290 planter set in 38 inch rows only using one row at time for row width spacing per the seed vendor(4 to 6 feet). The seed spacing in the row is pretty much similar. I believe I will need to set the gearbox on the lowest speed setting (#2) to achieve the spacing(s) I'm looking for. My preference would be to to find 2 used finger pickup units and remove every other finger on each unit for my JD 7000 4 row 38 inch planter which I have not had any success at this time. There is a video on YouTube from a Royal Oaks Farms that explains how they plant pumpkins. Has anyone used this B27436 planter plate and would share their recommendations and/or experience? Typically I plant pumpkins by hand and it is time and labor comsuming. My pumpkin patch is approximately 250 feet long by 50 feet wide. Any assistance is always appreciated.
