JD Quick tach

Did any company ever make a "quick tach plate" or adapter to make the 105"s into a quick tach without replacing the entire throat. We had one of the first 4400"s and 444"s in the area and everyone wanted the head for their older machine. What throat fit the 105"s etc, was it parts or did they sell a package?
JD had the corn head market cornered for many years but just sat on their butts and now they are really loosing market share to the chopper heads. We have converted our 693 to Clarke knives and the job is very adequate for corn/soy rotation and some times good enough for coc.

How old a 105 ? Later 105s had quick tach on platform headers I know and same platform headers were used on early 6600 till 20 series came out. Later 20 series header would fit late 105 too. Don't know on corn heads.

In the fall of 1969 when the New Generation 6600/7700 combines were released with the 40 series heads, Deere anticipated demand for that head on the older machines. Deere built the Intermediate Feeder House (called "quick tatch" my most everyone else) so the new heads could be used on the 1964 thru 1969 combines. I have seen home made adaptors to use the older platforms on the quick-tatch feeder house but not the other way around.

Using a 40 series corn head on a 95 or 105 fed the cylinder more evenly than the old auger system of the 35 series and took much less power to drive leaving more power to drive the separator.
Trying to convert a "quick-tatch" feeder house from a 6600 or 7700 to fit a 105 would be a nightmare. Quick-tatch feeder houses are out there, just have to look. Also to use a quick-tatch platform with a ridge or flex head on a 95/105, hydraulics need to be upgraded for the hydraulic reel drive. Have seen nice set-ups on this form for that purpose..

I have a spare quick tach throat for a 105. It is sitting outside and can take a photo of it if you are interested in it. Email me if you are interested in it.
