Those prices don't look too bad. Two weeks ago I went to a farm (estate) auction and most prices seem low which I think is usual for summer auctions. I watched as most tractors sold cheap and were nice looking repaints and seemed to run good (if running). Watched as a nice 630 and a non starting 620 both struggled to bring much, 630 $2800, 620 $2200. This was an estate sale and family members were bidding. That always seems to suppress bidding enthusiasm.

The outlier was a gas 2510 with wf, sold for $6500. I have seen many gas 2510's and gas 3010/3020 tractors struggle to get $4000. The 2510 was not sold to a family member.

Also had a nice R that sold to a family member $3500.

Three piece front weights for thirty series tractors brought $2000.

Thanks for posting Blksmok, always interested in auction prices.

Dan....this was an estate sale. Owner died leaving about 20 some tractors for his brothers to deal with. I always ask the auctioneer before I bid if there are reserves or family members planning to bid on certain tractors. If so, I don't waste my time bidding. A few of the tractors were works in progress that the owner never got time to complete. I bought the 70 diesel and the owner had the nose cone, hood, etc off to work on the pony engine (surprise, surprise). The diesel engine is ok and it has a round tube wfe, p/s and lpto. The 50 had a cracked block and a couple of the B's had stuck engines.

Thanks for the comment on the 50. I knew something had to be wrong for it to only bring that small amount.

What was the condition of the R? I'm seeing quite a variation in prices on that model here. (I live in the Fargo/Moorhead area) They range from people asking $3500 for one without a working pony, to asking $3800 for one with both motors running with fair tin but worn paint, to $6500 with running motors and so so paint, to one that sold in Redfield SD with both motors working and an old repaint for just over $9000. I'm trying to understand the reason for the wide disparity in prices. Given that a lot of these tractors wound up pulling road packers once they were too small for farm use, if it has something to do with worn rear ends. Also, was this the sale in SW ND at the end of June?

The JD R was a runner in good condition. The price varies as to who is at the auction that day. This auction was last weekend.

Yeah, the Redfield auction I thought had family members or something fighting over it to bring that price. Others are prices I have been seeing for advertised tractors. I've got two and possibly thinking about letting one go, but with such variations in price, I'm struggling to establish a value to help me decide if I should keep it or sell it.

Gooogle Ostby Auctions in New Effington. Click on results, it was the auction in Hankinson. There are pics of the R and the other two cylinders that sold.
