jd two cylinder missing

I have a 41 jdg 2cylinder that is missing i put a lp distributer with electronic points blaster coil with 3ohm restore. i can pull the plug wire off just enough to make the fire arc and it will run fine. would a mag stop this .or is there know what wrong. help

lp distributors only fire twice . gasoline burners fire four times. look at the magnetic pickup you put on the distributor shaft it will have four magnets to fire four times. two cents,
i did same thing.

i have a lp on mine, check plugs,if you can find the plug reducers, they can give you a whole host of different amount of plug selections, heat ranges an lenghts. i run the plug lengths that are 1in of threads that allow tip to be at edge of combustion chamber, easer starting an better fuel burn. email open if you want to contact me dan

LP distributor swapping originated from somebody with lots of parted LP tractors and the ability to dream up a market.
Untold millions of outboard, snowmobile, lawn equipment, farm equipment, airplanes and highway vehicles spark on the exhaust stroke. They run fine and pass emission tests and are even flight certified.
Put a regular gasser Delco dist on there and find the person that told you an LP dist was needed. Then kick him in the groin, at least twice.
It's resistor b.t.w. and where in the circuit did you place the ballast?

Better fuel burn. LoL it CANT be found on a Dyno. Same with the plug-in-head scam. & if the original setup is properly maintained it starts on the first crank so how does one improve on that? LoL its all in your head. My 1 cent.

B&D, agree with the LP distributor story. Where did you get the idea that the cranks are any different? Looking at section 10 of the parts catalog, it shows the same part number for all cranks (allfuel, gas, and propane).

What makes them "stronger?" Different material? DIfferent heat treat?

There was an article in the green magazine about 70's not
long ago. Claiming the lp cranks were made of better material.
But we started looking for them and the three I found all had
bad splines.

The original LP cranks were stronger than the original gas and all-fuel cranks. However, the reason the parts book you have says they are the same is the LP crank was listed as the factory replacement for all fuel types. Mike

Swapping mags while still hooked on the dyno from a hot regular to a 4cyl mag which fires only compression did make 2 more horse on a High compression B using e-85.
