Jake, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.
To answer some of your questions and acusations...
Fact - you paid for a head and pistons.
Fact - I sent you a check last week, and according to the online bank payment thingie, you should have it on 2/24.
- yep, I learned a lot last year
-- I learned that I don't need to make every sale. Some customers aren't worth having. Most are, some just aren't.
-- I learned that if you pay a patternmaker $10,000 in Sept 08 and they promise you heads by December of 08, you shouldn't believe them.
- Every date that I gave you was 4 weeks after the date I was given by the patternmaker.
- As we discussed before, I have several different pistons that will work in your PB A. Since the head kept getting delayed, you pondered different head options, even going back to a stock head just to run. You told me not to worry about it, money was tight anyways.
- You weren't putting your engine together, so having pistons in hand isn't too important, especially since I'm the one figuring your rod length and cutting the domes on them if they are needed or not. You won't need a dome with stroker crank in a powerblock with a flat head. And you don't want the added mass of a domed piston if you don't need it.
- In June/July of last year, I told you that I was as frustrated as you are and didn't know when the heads would be done, they were already 6 months late and I didn't have a warm fuzzy about when they would be ready. At that point I offerred to send you a ported Heisler that you could use so that you wouldn't miss any pulling. I'd pay the shipping to get the new head to you and get the Heisler back. You decided to wait, so quit your crying about me "making you miss a year".
- In Sept 09 I finally got castings, (I thought) but I didn't like the way the runner looked and I sent the pattern back to be reworked. I could have sent it to you and you probably would have bolted it on and been happy as a clam due to the added compression and the PB + stroker motor.
- Patterns were back at the foundry in mid Dec and due to XMAX shutdown were not made until Jan.
- I currently have good castings and they do look nice.
- Will be finishing 1 head this week. You won't be getting it.
Ricky (plowboy), Yes, I am a distributor for Ross Pistons, and also work with Arias. Billet pistons are CNC'd by a local shop after I draw them in Pro-E. I don't know why you would think that I "wait for several orders to come in", that would not be the case. There are other suppliers that do that. I try to make billet pistons within 3-4 weeks.
dboll, no these are not the aluminum heads. The aluminum head is a pet project for my tractor. These are new iron heads for the A's. Yes, the thin spot on the water jacket of the block was fixed on the block as soon as I became aware of the problem.
As always, my e-mail is open.
