jdg valve timing

I have G JD with 150lb on#1 and 90lb on#2 and missing and fouling out on#2 had to grind off camshaft for clearnce .I am with at least one tooth of being on time. How can I check to see if the cam is advance or retarded and what should it be set on.and which way to move gear.or do you think the problem might b e something else.i have work on plugs fuel points .good sparks.it has a lp dist. timmig can be adjusted. But non of that seams to help. running under load or idleing.any one with any help or ideas thanks.

Do you mean you had to grind off the camshaft gear or the camshaft? if you didnt clearance the gear any then there should be a carrot or marking on both sides, the outside to align with a mark on the governor gear and the inside/camshaft side to align with a mark on the crankshaft. Make sure your cam gear is on the right way to, that meaning the parts number should be toward the flywheel, not the clutch pully

thanks unstyled gguy i ground off both gear and cam clearence no mark but that being said i am within one tooth i am not sure which way .does this sound like a valve problem or a electrical problem

Definitely valve problem from your camshaft would explain the difference in compression. I'm not home this week or I could go out and look at a cam gear... see if you could find somebody else who has a G cam gear and just find where the mark goes

Can you give us any readings of your current valve events..??

At what Degree Before or after TDC does the Intake Valve start to open..???
Give us your Cam Specs if it is a different Cam..

Ron..
