funny you should mention Boones farm wine in a post below,I Have bad memorys of an episode with Boones farm apple wine,,,,it was 99 cents a bottle,Boones farm Strawberry hill was slightly higher priced at 1.01, Your mentioning it brought back a bad memory!!! I dont think I have ever been sicker in my life,when we over did some Boones farm in high school days,,,thanks for reminding me?? (LOL)
 
The only thing worse was some wine called MD 20/20. I took a bottle of that stuff to the drive in one night with a girl. I get a headache instantly if I take the least little sip of wine since then.
 
They were about the same price, but neither of them is "wine" more like sweet fruit juice with grain alcohol added.
I'm your age Larry, we tried all of them but went back to beer.
 
my wife and I married young and did not grow up around alcohol. on our honeymoon I bought some Morgan David port wine. it was so bad we had to mix it with 7-up. that was almost 47 years ago.

we drank to much of it ,but I wouldnt call it wine either,more aptly labeld poison? I felt like I Was ready to die early the next morning? (LOL)
 
I think that was probably about the time I was driving a 65 Ford LTD. Might have been the 63 Chevy Impala,I don't quite remember for sure.
 
abosolutley,no disrespect to the post,at all,and IM sure the wine is ok in moderation,we went overboard,,,,and paid for it!!(LOL)

i drank that once in my youth and the next day we were all trying to figure out what all we did the night before. haven't drank none since.
whiskey's too rough, champagne cost too much and vodka puts my mouth in gear. as a matter a of fact i used to love beer. now i have a glass of wine in the evening sometimes. man i sure have become an old fuddy duddy. no offense fuddyduddy :)
 
I spent a few hours in an ice shanty with a 5000 BTU catalytic heater and a couple of bottles of Ripple. BIL and I then chased 'em with a burger and split a six pack. Slept like a baby when we got home.

I'm telling you what! I don't remember what the movie was or who the girl was,but I'll never forget that sweet taste in my mouth or the headache.
 
I think times have changed for the better in this case,when we got stopped by the cops,they took our beer and told us to go home,the drinking and driving laws are strict here in nj now,and I AM GLAD (Since I have a 21 year old daughter)
 
When I was at Ft Knox, Falls City was the cheapest. Named after Falls of the Rough at Louisville. Wife's aunt lived at Denver that we visited often. Once we went to Golden and went through Coors. Afterwards we all went to the bar which was beautiful and could get TWO beers of 3.2.
 
Well, if there"s one thing on YTMAG we can all agree about...

We have all had a bad experience with MD 20/20 or Boones Farm.
 
Yup, I remember Buckhorn! Once left a couple twelve packs of long necks outside overnight when temp got below freezing. Next day some were froze solid, some slightly slushy, and some not even a hint of frost. Didn't seem to matter where they were at in the box. That stuff was quality!
 
My wife has more bad Boone's memories than me! Mine came from pricier stuff like Jack in the Black label. Can't stand to smell it now!
 
I lived at home for several years after I finished high school. Never cared much for the el cheapo wines, just went for the el cheapo beer. Mama told me, "Now son,I don't mind you drinking a beer or two, as long as you drink it at home." (Actually, she liked a beer now and then too.) A&P grocery store sold a brand called "Tudor" which was cheap but tasted like beer. So like a good little boy, I would buy a six pack about every week and carry it home, and Mama was happy. I just never told her about all those other six packs I chugged when I was out with the guys!
 
A friend and myself had about the same thing happen. Cop stopped us, said go back to your own town and drink. That was it. That was around 1967. Stan
 
Interesting to think back about the beers we used to drink....most now gone.

Aah..Boones Farm Apple wine, apple juice with a kick, and CCR, classic rock.
 
Boones Farm wine is still the best in my opinion. That is what the head table at my wedding served too. LOL And yes, I had many a good time with cases of Boones Farm a couple of decades or more ago. LOL

My overindulgence in my youthful days was a night with cherry slo gin when I was maybe 18 or 19 in about 1970 or so. Can't stand the smell of the stuff to this day. Jim
 
Ah, the MEMORIES! Slow Screw... Sloe gin and orange juice barfed up the nose! FUN!

I can STILL remember what that feels like after 30 years!

or MD 20-20 which only ought to be a ONCE in a lifetime experience. :) or :( I need not say more...LOL

How many places on a Ford Maverack are there to open a beer if you use each spot only once? It took 3 of us with a case of OV Splits each to find out. Door latches broke tops so had to drink carefully but lots of places under the hood :)
In the mid 70s Gennesee beer was .99 a 6 pk while Pepsi was 1.10. Go figure!
 
my kryptonite is peppermint schnaps, eeewwwww!! Even the smell will curl my insides today. Between paydays we bought Fiefers beer for under $3/case, nasty. In my wine phase, I bought TJ Swan.
 
uggg - first hangover... back when we were little punks. We stole a case of champagne. I drank two and a half bottles myself before a show. Eric Burdon and the Animals.

That was bad enough, but at the show, I went to buy a soda and the guy handed me a big plastic cup of beer instead.

Wow, being able to buy beer at that age was too much of a novelty for me to ignore, especially in my inebriated state.

So, of course I went back for many more.

I have no idea how many times I went back, the night gets fuzzier and fuzzier. But the next morning is etched sharply into my memory banks.

I was so sick that if I had a gun within arm's reach, I would have just done myself in.

My parents never said a word. I think they must have known that I had already given myself the best punishment possible.

Forget not being able to drink champagne again, for years I couldn't even look at SPRITE - it reminded me too much of champagne.
 
As I "kid" I fondly remember Strawberry Hill and playing superball down Erie Street Painesville Ohio.. If the ball went down the storm sewer, someone had to go to Convenient Food Mart and buy another box of cereal to get another ball.. Even a couple of cops were in it with us too, except the drinking part....1969-1970
 
I remember Stortz "Tap" beer. It was 59 cents a 6 pack or $2.00 a case at the Peoria K-Mart in about 1970. It was unpasturized beer. Had to be kept cold. It was about all we could afford then. Not the best stuff. But, it was beer!
 
Once lived in Monroe. worked on forklifts for Huber brewery. Can still see the individual mugs lined up in the break room. good beer when it's fresh and cold and not pasteurized plus it was free. Had afew sips myself
 
Boones Farm, Annie Green Springs and Ripple, back in college days. Mostly Ripple out here in the west- haven't seen anybody else mention it. All kind of like jr. grade Mad Dog 20/20 [shudder].
 
Yep, loved that Buckhorn. Nothing tasted better after a hard days work in the hot Sun than a chilled Buckhorn. Sure, it was a lower grade of Oly but it sure tasted good. Only problem for me though was they never shipped it south of Tonopah, Nevada. Why they wouldn't ship to Southern Nevada I'll never know; BUT you could SPECIAL ORDER IT, but you had to ORDER A TRUCKLOAD.
 
Can't find it much any more, but really liked Pabst Blue Ribbon, commonly called PBR around here. My favorite after a hot afternoon haying. Worst I ever got was on a neighbors homemade wine. My brother and I were doing his chores for a week, found his stash in a corn crib. Woke up in the morning, curled around a post in dad's grape arbor trying to stay warm. NEVER AGAIN!
 
Interesting posts. Nobody mentioned two cheapies: Iron City and Micky's Malt. No one drank Ripple because it was considered a homeless person drunk; always were willing to upgraded a few cents to either Boone's Farm or Auntie Green Springs. MD 20/20 was a powerful product. Never did see anyone drink it that didn't become sloppy drunk.
 
Boones Farm, girl named June, girl named Evelyn. Both married but not to me. Hot summer, not cement. Poplar street. I was 31. 39 years ago. Don"t know what We were supposed to be doing. LeARNED BETTER. Drank the whole thing. Dave
