These are very tough, dependable little tractors with nice features. Parts are generally available through Case dealers (even the construction dealers). They were produced from 1960 through 1969 (actually through 1972 if you include the 470/570 series). There were so many variations during that production run it would be hard to document them all here. In general some of the more desirable options came in the later years of the production run. Hydrostatic power steering (beginning in 1965), draft-o-matic 3 pt (beginning in 1963), Differential lock (beginning ??) are a few of the better options.

In my opinion....one of the best features of the 430-530-630 series was their bullet-proof, highly reliable engines, particularly the 188 diesel. The gas or spark ignition engines are also very reliable, but the little diesel was, and still is, a great engine.

One of the more frustratinng and challenging fixes is replacing the seal on the hydraulic cylinder that raises the draft-o-matic or eagle hitch arms. That cylinder resides in the differential case cover. If the seal is in need of replacement, the differential will be overfull with hydraulic oil (this section of the tractor should only contain 80w90 gear lube or the equivalent).

The brakes are not generally not considered to be great, but they are functional if kept clean, dry and properly adjusted.

Bottom line is these are good, dependable little workhorses that are generally easy to work on, and parts availability remains good. If you can't tell. I'm a big fan! - Joe

its a 1960 modal she is a ways off if they still have it, its looks like a great little tractor, it does have the 3 point, its actually 440 (gas engine) it looks to be perfect, i may make the trip, anything else

They did not start what is discribed as live pto until around 1965. Prior to that they had a hand clutch that would stop the tractor but leave the pto running so in a way it could be considered live pto. If yours has a hand clutch make sure it is adjusted properly. Some have thought their foot clutch was going out and all that was wrong was the hand clutch needed tightening. It is a fairly simple procedure.

N0 As Joe said they came in all forms. I have one which has no hyds.,no pto,no 3pt. It was a municipal bid tractor fitted with a crank driven hyd pump and belly mower. only option was hydrostatic steering, and low profile front spindles. Live PTO in 430s was acomplished with a hand clutch on the left side that disingaged the trans. It was convenient and dependable.

The early 430s did not have a true independent (live) PTO available, but as others have said the hand clutch on the left side of the torque tube allowed the operator the ability to simulate a "live" PTO. The early 530s and 630s had an independent PTO available as an option. Midway through the production run.... some where between late 1963 and 1965, the optional independent PTO became available on the 430s as well. - Joe
