My apologies - the camera angle distorts the yardstick measurements. That idea didn't work out.

I had a problem similar to this on a portable miller welder with a continental engine. Long story short it was my coil, just enough spark to barley run but would not operate
under load. Changed the coil and it fired up like a new one.

thanks to all that chimed in. i got a new condenser yesterday from napa. i was able to get started and going for now. I wasn't able to check timing but I'm working on it. i did put in a new ground wire also old one was corroded pretty bad.
