John Deere 1010 RowCrop Narrow Front

I recently found a John Deere 1010 Rowcrop??? narrow front tractor with a frontend loader for sale. Gas engine with recent overhaul. 3-point hitch. 36 inch rear tires.power steering. Not sure if loader is JD or not. It's just a trip bucket loader. The guy says he has over $1700.00 in parts on overhaul(which I don't doubt). The tractor seems to run excellent and overall mechanically seems sound. But it is kind of ugly. Missing the front grill , all of the side panels and the dash is empty. No gauges left in the dash at all. Anyways , just wondered if any of you guys had an opinion to the value of it and if it would be worth restoring as a collectible tractor. Or is it even a very collectible piece?? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Purely my 2 cents worth here,but the 1010 was probably the worst excuse of a tractor John Deere ever built. I don't doubt he put $1700 in it either. You'll put a lot more than that in it if you drag it home.

Dad bought a new 1010 when they first came out. rr is correct. It was a tractor to turn one away from John Deere for life.

I would say that it would be an asset to your collection hobby. Get rid of the Loader. I have seen many 1010 Utility types but never a 1010 Rowcrop. That in it's self does not mean much as I come from a large Tractor type farming area and even Loader Tractors were of the 3-4 plow variety. I think it would be a unique tractor to restore and show. I don't think Sheet Metal would be all that hard to aquire. If it runs good and tires are good $1700.00 is not to far out of line. I have that much in my AC "B" and they are not scarce at all.

The 1010 was just a gussied up 430 with a 4 cylinder engine and new sheet metal for the most part it was a pretty good tractor. The first 2010's were a bunch of dogs. The transmissions were mot to swift along with the early diesel engines. However because they are still running after these many years it is safe to assume the bugs have been worked out in 48 years if they ever are going to be!
