John Deere 148 :Loader Brackets

I want to move the 148 loader off my 3020 and mount it onto either my 2940 or 4030 tractors. Will the loader brackets fit? Original loader brackets were really off a 4020, but the guy I bought them from cut them down shorter.

The 4020 and 3020 used the same brackets, but the intallation manual says cut them off for the 3020, so that's right. My 148 manual doesn't cover the 2640, but it says that the 2520, 3020, and 4030 requires the side frames to be trimmed by 6". On the 4030 it talks about moving the tractor steps, upper different than other tractors.

Since I've been informed that the 148 loader fits tractors up to '55 models, its sure that a newer operator's manual will have details on how to mount it on the 2640.

It looks like JD kept the side rails the same for a long time.

James, you will probably want to mount your loader on your 4030. In addition to the good information Gerald gave you the 2940 takes a totally different mounting system than what you have now. As Gerald said, the one you have can be used on your 4030 as a direct fit. Mike

James,
I agree that your mtg frames are correct for a 4030. The frames for a 2940 must also attach to rear axle housings to help support the clutch housing to prevent from cracking as per JD instructions.
