John Deere 2520

Don't often see anything on 2520's. Weren't there many made, or do people hang on to them? See quite a few 2510's.

In my area of dairy farming, central New York - the 2520 diesel is one of most sought after Deeres of that generation - more so than the 4020. Many regard it as the best Deere evey made in that horsepower range. I've got seven of them in my area. I have never seen one sell cheap. My neighbor blew his up a few years back, took it apart, and then gave up and sold his farm and equipment. His 2520, sold at auction as a rusty basket case and still brought $5500.

Unfortunately they were sold during a down time in the ag economy which accounted for some of the low production numbers .Plus the 4020 was so popular that a lot of farmers bought 4020s even when the 2520s would have been all the power they needed.Too bad Deere never used that engine design on the 4020s. It would have been a block buster of a tractor.

I think it was Iowa State University that had a perfect 2520 they had from new. Gas although, but it still brought over $14000.00
