John Deere 350 crawler loader track chains?

Are there any good sources out there for a set of track chains to fit a John Deere 350 (B - I think) crawler loader. I have a friend with one and the rollers seem decent, sprockets don't seem that bad, but the chains are totally toast (the bushings are worn through to the pins on both sides), the front idlers are worn but repairable, and the pads aren't great. Is there anywhere to get a set of chains or other undercarriage parts for this machine other than Deere? The rest of the machine is in good shape but the tracks currently render it unusable. Many thanks, Sam

Yes. There's aftermarket undercarriage that's cheaper than JD. Berco is probably more than JD. There's undercarriage out of Korea that is good quality for less money. It used to be sold by Trek but a Korean company bought them out. It is OEM on some equipment. Best to replace chain and sprockets as a set for longest life. Check with heavy equipment repair and aftermarket shops. The JD dealer up here sells it as option too but their price is still higher than an independant shop. Dave

Since the rest of the undercarriage is partially worn out,it may pay to just have new pins and bushings pressed in the old chains. Replace the sprockets at the same time or you will wear the new bushings out quickly.

If you can find someone that turns pins and bushings. Most places don't anymore, especially on smaller machines. If the bushings are wore through, there's a really good chance the rails are worn out too. Dave

Thanks for the advice so far. I was wondering about replacing the sprockets so will have to see if we can find them as well. The rails (at least as far as depth goes) didn't look too bad but I think complete chains may be the best bet. I think the pins and bushings have already been turned but there isn't enough left to turn them anyway. I'm up in Eastern Canada if that makes any difference. I guess the first place to try is the Deere dealer and go from there. Many thanks, Sam

Google Trek undercarriage. They have a warehouse in Quebec and could give you a list of dealers in your area. Like I said previously, the JD dealer here sold Trek as a lower cost option to their undercarriage but independant dealers were quite a bit cheaper. It really pays to shop around. Some dealers might be able to give a better deal. Dave
