John Deere 350 dozer Injection Pump Issues.

Greetings, to all. It has been a while since I posted anything. Got a new (older) toy. John Deere 350 dozer. Very nice condition, except for a couple of issues.
My main problem is fuel injection pump. I only know a couple of things. It is a Stanadyne pump. 3 cyl engine. When it does fire up it wants to run kind of wild. I shut it down. The pump does pump, but the governor seems to be failing.
I will most likely need to pull the pump, but don’t want to until I know more about the process. I am confident if I can find a manual somewhere that would show diagrams of the internals of this guy.
Any help and or direction is GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thank you kindly.

You probably should send it to Dieseltec, working on those pumps is not something for the inexperienced. When I worked in the JD shop 53 years ago, I think it was $650 exchange then.

Remove the window with 2 screws on the side of the pump. Roll the motor over until the stationary mark lines up with the rotating mark .
NOTE : this assumes that the pump is timed correctly to start with ! If you go past, back motor up at least a quarter turn then bring marks back into alignment . Dieseltec does good work . LaVoy's house of Deere's may have manual downloads

Lavoy has a store, like YT he sells manuals. I do not know of any free service or technical manuals available as free downloads.

The John Deere service manual for a straight 350 crawler is SM2063. The JD service manual for the dozer attachment is SM2083.

Thank you. I have another question about your reply. First, the pump is in time with the engine. It will fire up alright, but runs a little wild. My question is, lining up the 2 lines in the window of the pump is all that is needed before removing the pump? I heard something about the flywheel has to be brought around to a certain hole so a pin can be inserted. What is your opinion or thought of this? Thank you.

Thank you

Last Stanadyne I had reconditioned was a 4 cylinder and it cost me $900.00 in my neck of the woods. That was at least 10 years ago. Thinking back it was closer to 20 years.
Thank you

That JD engine should be at TDC when the PUMP marks align, and pump turns 1/2 crankshaft speed.
It has been many years since I pulled a pump on a 350, but he has to remove the gear cover from the engine' front cover to unhook the shaft from the gear, then pull the shaft out of the gear on a 350 doesn't he? The pump doesn't slide off the shaft on those, if I am remember right, does it?

If it's the JDB pump shaft can stay in place and pump removed rearward off the drive shaft.

How would a person know if it’s the JDB pump?
From the internet...
The JDB fuel pump is a type of injection pump commonly used in diesel engines, particularly in John Deere tractors. To identify it, check for the model number on the pump, which may include designations like JDB331AL2732 or similar, and consult resources like parts catalogs or forums for specific details related to your engine model. forums.yesterdaystractors.com jdcrawlers.com

The pump should have a tag on it. Here is the tag on a JDB pump.
