John Deere 40 distributor rebuild

I am rebuilding a tractor that my grandpa had and basically it has been setting up for about 15 years. The engine still will turn over when I pull with the clutch engaged. My next step is to try to get it to fire, but it has been setting up with the distributor cap off. Pretty much all of it needs to be replaced. I was hoping to find a rebuild kit for the distributor. Is this a good time to convert it to 12 volt. Does anybody know where to purchase a rebuild kit for these distributors. Thanks

It woud seem to me that it would need to be disassembled and then decide what it needs.

As I recall the 420 was a Delco and I bet the 40 is the same.

Also they ran for a bizillin years on 6 volts so maybe it would not need to be converted.
