I just bought a 4240 ser. no. 4240H-029573 what year is it? It dosen't have a turbo, did some? The guy I bought it from had the injector pump turned up when he had the pump rebuilt. He thought it put out about 120 hp. now. It has 4500 hrs. on it, no cab , but it does a 4 post top with glass on the front and sides. How much is a cab and is it hard to put on? This is the first 40 series tractor that I have owned. Good tractor ?

It didn't have a turbo from the factory I don't think. That would be the 4440. 4500 hours is pretty low time.
I have read that cabs are $3000-3500 if you can find one and complicated to put on. Very good tractor!

The 4240 did not come with a turbo. I've heard of people adding a turbo and not turning the pump up at all and getting a significant increase in power and fuel economy. I think a cab would be difficult or impossible to add, the sound gard body as Deere called it included the entire operators station. From what I've seen of these tractors they are good although some complain of poor fuel economy. I dont have a chart handy to tell you the year but they were built from 1978 to 1982.

Good tractors all the way around. 466 engine with no turbo. As for installing an SGB, a decent cab won't be cheap, although the installation won't be all that difficult if you have a big overhead hoist, some patience, etc. The cab is essentially a "body" and they're relatively easy to remove and install. Of course you'll also need an A/C compressor, condensor, lines... Almost definitely easier and cheaper in the long run to buy one with a SGB, though.
