JOHN DEERE 450C SIDEFRAME

I have a john deere 450c ceawler that needs the right side frame replaced. want to know if anybody got any good tips on what it takes to replace one. what all got to get removed to get at it what other damage is ussally done when one brakes.

I've replaced a few..Nose has to come off , bellypan, usually the engine needs to come out.Some tin removal is necessary..Then , it's clear sailing from there..I have checked around on prices.....WOW....Deere wants a grand or a little better..My last purchase was from Paint Valley Equipment in Millersburg Ohio..They make their own fabricated engine frame rails..They actually fit..Appearance is close , but not a dead ringer..They also make an aftermarket track adjuster that beats Deere's price all to heck.. I have tried welding engine frame rails before...They don't hold up.. I've reinforced them , but they still crack..Something about their metalurgy doesn't permit a permanent repair on them..Tried it several times..Look around for broken bolts in the clutch housing and spacer blocks ..Not too much else happens when the engine frame rails fail..

In addition to Roy's comments, I'd suggest all new hardware using heavy washers where needed. We have done many of these repairs and if done correctly, should last. Like Roy suggested, look carefully for other loose, broken or missing bolts. The 450's are noted for coming unglued. We can also help you with parts if you need them. Weld with 7018. Plate with truck frame. Cut a half moon out of end of
plat and lay in side of frame. Weld with short welds 2" long length ways.
Weld half moon at 45º 2" long. Don't use regular steel use truck frame.
Don't weld vertical. Did mine in 1988 never broke again.
