I have a JD 503 that is leaking grease. It a Comer version. I put corn head grease in it and noticed a small amount of it leaking out of the rear around the round plate. Is there a seal behind the plate and how do I replace it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If no shaft is there then it is either sealed with a gasket or an o-ring depending on how old the box is will determine some of that.

It appears from viewing 503 parts catalog on JDparts.com that you need to replace an o-ring.

Thanks! That looks like my gearbox. It looks like there's a retaining ring that hold it on in the diagram.
