Hi,
The 720 lp std i am working on came to me with out a battery. it does have an alternator that i just had rebuild. i thought the 720s were 6 volts though? i want to know what kinda battery to get 6 or 12 volt?

also i finally got the serial number
7228561 could someone tell me what year and any other info.. if its rare or not. thank you

Two-Cylinder shows 345 made. That is rare. Two 6V batt. is what it came with but one 12V will work just as well if it is a high amp batt. The tractor being as rare as it is, I would keep it as close to original as I could. It should be worth some money when, and if, you sell it.

i thought they only made these tractors during 1956? and i am restoring it to as original as posible. except there is an extra hole in the dash, so i am putting a swtich there for the electric fuel shut off. just off of the top of your head what do you think a fully restored one maybe worth. know keep in mind the we are not the best ppainters and just restore them to drive and play around with?

(quoted from post at 14:46:53 09/06/09) just to add its a standard wide front
The 345 number I gave is for a standard. There were over 4000 720 LPs built. I have no idea what it would be worth when you finish. Depends on how good a job you do. Do not plan to retire off of what it sells for as that would be expecting to much.
It should have a generator for it to be original.
The 720 was built as a 1956 and 1957 year model. 7228561 is a 1957 "black dash" as the first 1957 720 was serial number is 7203420.

serial# 7228561 is 1958 as 1958 models started at 7217368 and 58s are the only black dash from thr factory also differant steering wheel on 58s

well when i got the tractor it had orginal paint and
it was a green dash? so should it be a black dash?
and you have confused me about the year. everyone
says 1958? what is the year then?

The 720 was built as a 1956 and 1957 year model. 7228561 is a 1957 "black dash" as the first 1957 720 was serial number is 7203420.

My mistake as I read the wrong line on the card. On July 12, 1956 the first 720 was buily as a 1957 model. Serial number 7200000 was the first 720. My Two-Cylinder card says 7203420 was the first 1958 tractor. Kent may have better information than what I have. Either way if the serial number you have is correct then you have a 1958 model. If your dash is green and the steering wheel has the steel center and spokes it could be a 1957 with the wrong tag. The Black dash has a plastic steering wheel and a green generator which you say is no longer on the tractor.

the serial tag is oringal and the dash was green .
the tractor has power steering and has the power
stearing emblem on it. and it came to use with an
alternator. my dad said its not a black dash because
the guy who sold it to use is a collector and he
would not have sold it to us if it was a black
dash/

So it has the plastic steering wheel? It doesn't make much difference price wise if it is green or black dash. Just that it is a 720 LPG, standard.
