John Deere 7700 update

Hey guys, well the 7700 is running, runs real good too from what I can tell, the motor sounds real good(diesel). Boots on the injectors are going to be replaced as well as the drive tires before driving her home.
Was having problems with no hydraulics on the machine, figured I had air in the lines or some such but the previous owner called and told me there was a switch on the dash panel that engaged the hyd. pump. Glad he called cause I would have never really figured on that.
In any case we got up there yesterday and started her up and after the pump got a good prime on it everything went to working, sure was a good morning getting that part of the puzzle solved.
Getting the drive tires changed hopefully in the morning. Got a couple off of a friends White combine that were the same size before he had them scrapped along with 2 round back 55's he had. wish I would have known it sooner but they got the torch along with both the Whites he had there.
I have to call a friend of mine about the Deere 105 diesel he has and find out what he would take for it. Don't want to see that one get the blue tipped wrench!
I believe the 7700 will be a good one. Moves and runs good anyhown and runs fairly quiet with everything engaged as well.
Thanks for the previous replies guys,
Gary

7700 should be good! Wishing we got one instead of the 4420 so I could run a 6 row corn head instead. What size heads will you be running?

Also, are all 7700's "titan 2's" or just the 4wd ones? I've been watching for them in local machinery ads but can't seem to figure out why some get labeled titan.

The titan II's were 7720's. As far as I know the Titan II's were the updated 7720's? I really don't know for sure. I've seen 7720 and 7720 Titan II both.
The 7700 I have has a 20' grain head on it and when time comes I'll work on getting a 6 row corn head. I have not been around grain production in many years and want to start mixing some in with the hay work.

Titan II combines were introduced in 1985 as updated Titans. Titan combines were introduced in 1978, these were the 20 series.

The 7720 was a Titan, the last in 1983, all had a yellow roof cab. The Titan II introduced in 1984 had a green roof cab, longer and faster shoe with the same fan set up. Many here in Canada had the shoe drive sprocket replaced with the Titan one, a pan installed on the fingers behind the shoe supply augers to force more air to the back of the shoe. For my money the Titan was a better machine, much easier to set.

Titan II's came out in 1985, Jim. A lot of people don't even recognize the first Titans, just because they did not have any decals designating as such, but then, where would the "Titan II" have come from?

For those of us who were making the harvest run during the first years of the 20 Series Deere's, we saw many more improvements from just 1979-1982, than from the 1984-1985 Titan II transition.
