john deere 830 foot operated speed control

I have speed control on the tractor my question is,does the hand control move when you use the foot control or are they independent from each other.

when you rev the throttle with the hand lever, the foot control goes with it. When you use the foot control the hand lever stays put.

Thanks Rod
Something must be wrong with mine because the hand lever moves when I push down on the foot pedal.
