We are doing a farm auction that includes a John Deere tractor. I do not know much about it other than it is a Model A, Serial number A2622R, and is in running condition. Is this tractor something noteable for vintage value? We are considering selling the whole estate including the tractor and I don"t want to miss the boat be selling it too cheap... Any ideas?

The A2622R isn't the ser#. It's a casting #. The ser# is located on the left side, just ahead of the flywheel on an unstyled A, or below the dist. or mag on the right side on a styled A.

The serial number should be a 6 digit number. If there is not a serial number, post a picture. Someone can give you a idea as to it's value.

That number you have is not the serial number, that is a part number. The serial number is stamped on the tag below the mag/distributor. The tag it mounted with two rivets and should say:

MODEL A TRACTOR
Serial: (your number)
