John Deere AO

I have an AO that we picked up a few years ago.
It is in very good condition (unrestored) but does not have full orchard sheet metal. Looks like an AR with the exception of exhaust coming from the side of the engine. We have been told there were a few AO tractors that did not have the full orchard sheet metal. Two-cylindar club is currently researching the serial number for us, but I am curious if anyone knows if it is possible to know the number that may have been shipped without full orchard sheetmetal? Thanks in advance.

This is what our 1946 AO looks like. Can you post a picture of yours?

Don't think i've seen a Unstyled AO with full sheetmetal over the wheels. The AOS was unstyled and had fender skirts ect.

Thats what we have. Dont have pics but will get some. Tractor
is in a few pieces as the restoration has started.

Sorry. Ours is styled, not unstyled, and it isn't an AOS. I have seen a couple of those, but that isn't what we have.

my mistake...was looking at the pic on my phone in the sun. Ours is a bit newer and is syled.
That tractor is very nice none-the-less.

I have a 1952 AO without the full orchard dress. It was confirmed by the 2-cyl-club. Built in July 52, shipped to the Syracuse NY. branch, then to a Dealer in Falconer NY. I still have the dealer key emblem. It is listed as NO special Equipment on the research document. Bought it from an Amish Farmer in N.E. Ohio. He thought it was an AR as the muffler and breather were coming out of the top of the hood. Was quite suprised when we found out it was an AO.

The citrus metal was an option, not all AO"s had that. You can purchase new metal for it from Craigs Welding that is pretty spot on. Either way its still a good one to restore. Quite a few styled AR"s made. Not as many AO"s. Less than 1000 if i recall.
