John Deere B Pulling Tractor Build

Alright, my dad and I are wanting to build our 1950 John Deere B to be a pulling tractor. It will be pulling in Div 1 & 2 in our pulling clubs which I think is equivalent to NATPA Div 3. We want to have the engine built by someone who knows what they are doing and is not too far away. We live in Missouri. I am currently talking to Jeff at Murphy's for the parts but we need to decide on an engine builder for it. He recommended Jim Matzenbacher, which I have heard he's built quite a few. We will be calling him later in the week. Is there anybody else we should talk to about this as far as parts and what exactly we are going to do to this tractor? What do you guys on here recommend doing to a styled JD B to make it fairly competitive without spending more than about 8k? Even if it would cost more than 8k, I would still like to hear any ideas you have. Any help would be appreciated as this is going to be our first tractor we are going to have the engine built on. Thanks!

Thanks Terry! In case you didn't know, I'm the teenager that pulls the Farmall Super C and the JD B (which is what were talking about here) at West Alton.
