John Deere clock

Any of yall seen the John Deere clock that has 12 tractors on it and at the top of every hour it plays a recording of that tractor starting up and shutting down?
My wife got me one for Christmas, has to be one of the best presents she’s gotten me yet.
I think she had planned for it to go in the garage but I had to hang it in the living room. Every time it goes off I smile and she rolls her eyes.
6 O’clock is a JD 830 with pony motor, it sounds great listening to that pony wind up then that big old 2 banger fire off. 1 O’clock is a waterloo boy and that thing sounds like it could fly apart at any second.

I've had one of those for a couple of years. I tried to take it to the barn but my wife likes it. It hangs next to the front door. After a while you tend to tune it out. The funny thing is we have an heirloom grandfather clock from her family that sits in the corner and she won't let it run, drives her nuts.

I have had one of those in my office for a few years but I don't have the sound activated. I don't think it sounds that great but the Ford clock I have with 12 cars sounds great.

was in rite-aid drug store and the lady at counter saw my john deere shirt and ask if i liked john deere stuff. she said we are having a sale on clearance items, and have some john deere clocks at a good price. i bought the last two clocks like you mentioned fot $5.00 each. one is in my barn and scares the h#** out of every one when they fire up. love it. good luck, d. coleman

hey bobin, my mother always said it hurt the old clocks to just sit and we had one that did set for a while after a house fire and it got all gummed up. seems like it was 100 bucks to get it clean. there is a lever to shur the chimes off on most of those old clocks. i'd at least run it when your gone from home over a week end or more often if possible. don't over wind it and i had some luck spraying hers with wd-40 and got some movement back out of it, but it still had to be cleaned.

Both my father and I each have one. The clock it's self is fine. Both of us shut the sound/noise off. The tractor sound recordings were made with very poor audio quality.
Some sounded like a $29.99 portable cassete recorder with the internal condensor mike. Held near the tractor as the engine was starting in a shed with a low roof.

I've heard those clocks done with other sound themes and they sound great due to the care/quality made in the audio recordings.

I have one of those for about 5 years the clock works fine, But all 12 tractors need some major engine work, I have them turn off for the past 4 years

The one I have sounded like a bunch of bad scratches on an old record - very disappointing. I would recommend a listen before you buy deal if anyone is going to buy one.

I received one as a Christmas present many years ago. Clock works great but I took the battery out of the sound part shortly after I heard that noise. On mine the 830 cranking engine was the only thing that even sounded remotely decent.

Very disappointing. I've wondered if recent versions were improved.

My Mom & Dad have two clocks with bird calls on them and those sound GREAT. These clocks have different sets of birds too so I took one apart & turned the hands on the shafts so that one clock goes off on the hour and the other on the half hour. M ade me still more disappointed with my JD clock.

I don’t think it sounds too bad, it definitely has room for improvement but the ones I’m familiar with seem to sound pretty close. It is kinda hard to get a good recording on those loud popin johns, I’ve tried to make short videos of my tractors running with my cell phone and the sound turns out horrible.
My clock sounds better on the wall than it does holding it. I guess it kinda echoes off the wall. It makes the wife jump every time it goes off when she is near it, it’s even made her let a bad work or two slip a few times. That in itself makes it worth having.
My main problem with it is I don’t like how they have 4 2002 model tractors and they don’t even have a 4010 or 4020. Seems like whoever choose the tractor models had no idea which ones were important.
