John Deere Combine 55

I have a John Deere Combine 55, would like to know the year and size of motor. Serial # 55-71600 for Combine and model # HE217-G and 217G-5H66173 for motor. Thanks

Combine is 1964. When you mean size I don't know if you mean cubes or hp. But the engine is a 217. 217 cubes and 71 hp.

Ours had a Hercules QXD 6 cylinder flathead in it. 229.7 (230) cu.in. I still have that engine as a spare for my Hough HF Payloader.

Hercano Propulsion in Ohio has Hercules parts, but not much of a website!

Thanks for the information, it's a big help. Another question, I have a Prestolite Distributor System, needing to find parts numbers for the cap and rotor. All I can find are numbers for the Delco-Remy system. Thanks

If you can read the numbers on your
distributor you can post them here and we
can most likely find a part number of parts
yot need or you could try Napa

Cap is AT14690

Rotor is AT14680

Both appear to be still available from DEERE, or GOOGLE the part number for aftermarket choices.
