John Deere G Pulling Tractor

Just wondering what you guys think. Looking at a John Deere G set up for pulling has some head work and has been bored slightly. says it dynos out at around 96 just wondering if you guys think this is true or what else I could do to get some more power with out dropping a bunch of money

I'd want to look inside and see the bore and stroke... It's got a lot more than a little head work to get to 96Hp..

the guy never said anything about a powerblock but would that make more sence of how he is getting that horse power, but I do know it is bored over .125. not sure if it has a bunch of manifold or cam work done either. Do any of you guys no of Bobby Hinton in Henderson Ky supposedly he is the guy who build the motor with a flat head

you better see that with your own eyes, i have a G 9 1/4x6 3/8 with extensive carb, manifold and head work done and that tractor only makes 108 hp checked on two differant dynos

and 108 hp is actually really good for an almost 600 inch deere. that's a good running setup.
realistically if that motor is slightly bored and has heard work it's not going to make over the mid 60s in hp. maybe 70 on a loose dyno.

You wont get close to 96 with (head work and slightly bored) as you put it. Maybe 60, 65 or squeeze out 70 if done correctly. Hinton knows his 4 and 6 cylinders, never heard of a popper being built by him

I have a G bored 125 over
,flat head, cam reground roller rockersand a little took off the top of the pistons to make it 10 to 1 only around 70 HP,pulls great after we took some off the pistons so it would lug.

I stood next to an A putting out 96 on the crank pulley, with a power block & only heaven knows what else. The next guy up was a huge G with Murphy block & head, stroked etc, best he could pull was 72. But I do think 96 is impossible on either, with a factory block & no stroke, unless he's turning far more rpms than the factory flywheel or crank would take.

thanks for your guys input still finding out more about the tractor but just wondering where you guys get your motors made for a 2 cylinder
