John deere G

I have a 1951 John Deere G that I pull in mostly 3 and 5 mph classes and a few open speed limit classes. What is a good stroke for speed limit classes? I want more power but want the tractor to be dependable. We run about middle of the field the way it is but want to get to the front. We are one of the few deeres around here so nobody really knows what is best. Any help will be appreciated thank you.

get ahold of Mark Shellum if you really want your G to run, out of respect for his privacy I can't post his # here but he isn't hard to find but they will be busy taking beans and corn out into November.

send a block and crank to Jack Goldmen in Hooper Nebraska reliable would be 7.25 by 9 or 9.25 very reasonable prices 3300 on the high end for block and crank and pistons pistons will be made by someone else murphys is a good place for pistons

Pretty sure its not We have bought six blocks from him and a few cranks and ive been told golden and goldmen never once golder but ive been wrong before

If you go to that big of a bore 7.25 on a factory block do you have to got to a dry block or can you still run cooling system? Has anyone had a problem with breaking cranks when choking the motor down under a load with being stroked?

Yes you can still run water he puts a few inches of concrete in the bottom of them and with a small water pump they run decently cool with only a 9 Or 9.25 I would be shocked if it broke jack builds a very respectable crank much better than the other big name john deere crank builders fast turn around too

(quoted from post at 16:55:31 01/11/12) Can you please send me Mark Shellum's Number. I really need a G carburator. Thank you.

I don't know his phone number but have a rebuilt 51 carb for sale in the photo adds
