John Deere H oil change

Thought I would change oil in my H. Remove the drain plug & got A flood of oil & what I thought was water but was gas what would cause this much gas get into the crank case, when I shut down my H I turn the fuel to off & let it stop by running out of fuel. Is it possible that the float needle valve is sticking while the engine is running? Dave F.

What you suggest might be possible.
However it is more likely a combination
of 2 events. The shut-off that you are
depending on to stop the fuel, isn't.
It's letting some gas seep by, and your
needle valve is letting some gas seep by.
This combination, along with time, will
cause your crankcase to fill with gas.
Stop the tractor as you usually do and
then open the drain valve on the bottom
of the carb bowl. This way, any gas that
seeps by will drip out the drain instead
of going to the crankcase.

I would still do this shut-down routine
even after you install a new needle and
seat AND do do something about that leaky
shut-off.

Thanks Lon I was thinking the same thing, I do need a new drain valve on the carb bowl and I will check that shut off valve Thanks again Dave.

Get some of this stuff from skygeek.com
for about $11.25 for a 5 oz tube. It'll
last you about 500 years. Read about it
here. I also use it on petcocks to stop
the "black dribble"
