John Deere M Value

Sorry, I don't have a picture. What might a JD M (not C, I, or T) be worth? They made 45,000 M's. The tractor has not been painted since factory. The hood has lots of dents in it. The axle has some issues, it sounds severe as I am told the gears in the final drives are not meshing properly. It starts and runs. No 3 pt. It has a home made loader on it. No cultivator. PTO and Electric Starter are standard from the factory. We are in Minnesota/Wisconsin. The seat is "terrible". It has been sitting in a barn for years. The tires hold air. The muffler is snapped off. Some range of value would be helpful. Thanks. Paul

Oh boy that one sounds pretty bad. Check it over VERY close for a cracked head (on the frt. side) and or block (behind the carb.)are where they usually crack. If it has a good head and block that hold antifreeze it would be worth more than scrap. If they are bad buy it by the weight.

I am thinking $500 or scrap on your M. Sounds like even if you got into it and decided to part it out there may not be much there for parts since the good stuff sounds beat up.

Likely the gears not meshing is something else in the final drive or transmission. Often times these tractors have noises in the driveline. My MT had a small noise only noticeable in high gear. I owned it for 5 years, never got any worse.

I picked up a none running M, with a mowing machine, ground plow, snow plow, 6' disk, cultivators & a Tool bar weeder
for 400.00.. Tractor needed rear tires & the engine over hauled. It now runs great & I use it about everyday. I am unsure
if I would give 400.00 for yours from the way it sounds.

I sold my father old tractor for $800 it was in fare shape 1951 or 1952 bought in 1952 with mower and 2 14 plows running good just got tired setting arround
