i bought a sickle mower to go on the back of the tractor and i cant get the left control quadrant to work how do i get it to work or stiffin up the hydralics system on it??

If by control quadrant you mean the lift arms under the seat, both should work togeather as their both on the same shaft. If the right one is working and the left one isn't, the shaft is broken or the splines are stripped. If their both weak it could be your pump or the power-trol has valve issues or bad rings on the internal hydralic cylinder. Also make sure the hydralic fluid isn't milky, means there water in it.

It has been a long time since I had and used an MT but don't you have too pin both arms together on the left rear side to get them to work at the same time?

I just finished rebuilding the total hyd on my MT so am pretty well familiar with the system. The lift has 3 arms. The 2 on each R & L outside are on the same shaft and controlled by the right lever. The inside arm on the left is on a tube shaft and is operated with the left lever. There is no pin to pin them together as on the Model 40 and later. I would suggest that if the left arm is not lifting it is most likely the shift valve that switches from one side to the other when the opposite lever is accuated that is stuck or rusted in a fixed position as mine was.
