I know some of you have probably read on the combine forum that I am having trouble with the shift cables on my 4400 combine. I called about new cables today and would you believe they wanted $246 each for those things! Well I have reached my limit on this crap, I am not going to pay mother deere that crazy price for those cables....I am going to do something different, I do not know what yet, but that is just nuts!

Baum hydraulics, www.baumhydraulics.com carries replacement cables for most older machines, I bought a cable for a JD windrower from them.

It takes a lot to surprise me anymore when it comes to these parts prices,and I have to be honest,that doesn't surprise me.
Like my cousin said,you look at a part and think it's going to be $200,you'd better plan on it being $500.

I price check every thing and gather aftermarket suppliers. WHen Deere stopped making the selfpropelled scraper line they told us ater 10 years parts would be nil. We have made a list of aftermarket supliers and its saved a ton of money.

one should never be suprised at parts prices, we had to order a hyd. oil tank for a 9420 jd 4 wd i'm working on , it's made of plastic and it's $1500.00!!
