John Deere Planter ID Needed

John Deere planter... Where can I find photos to ID it. Looked on frame, seed bin, but not a number . Seed plate is old enough to list; "this side up for corn, cotton, kaffer corn etc". will try to post photo, soon as I learn how that is.

It sounds like it definately a cotton planter. I have a 247 which is a 2 row 3 pt cotton planter. It has that ring in the bottom with the 2 ears right? But it acutally isn't a plate. It goes in the bottom and the plate sits on top. Some plates like milo require a false ring, that requires you to take the ring out.

one row, two row or three row, mule drawn, mounted on the side of the tractor or three point hitch. give us some more info to go on.

Mine is a single piece, it has a v shaped connector w/ 2 bolts to clamp onto a horizontal bar. It also has another piece that goes to the front w/2bars that hook to something or other. The bottom plate is P2386 & the seed plate is H1255B. I need to rig both bins & drop tubes. Otherwise it's rusty but OK.

Sounds sorta like a unit planter of some sort. (Toolbar mounted) The 1255 plate is normally used to plant soybeans. Almost everything Deere made as far as plate planters used the type B plate. The plate doesn't really tell much about what model you have. A picture would do wonders
