John Deere plow

The beam number 251 is listed as the long beam on 10", 12", 14" New Deal and 12", 13", 14", and 16" Deere Steel Gang right hand plows. So far that is all I have come up with. Is this a sulky plow?

thanks for your help Bob it dosen't have a seat or rear wheel not sure if it ever did, it has one lever for each wheel and one to move the front tongue back and forth, also the field wheel is larger than the furrow wheel

lucky, I did a bit more searching and found a picture in the Plow Works Catalog "O" 1930. The John Deere Steel Gang-two bottoms. It says "Adjustable Beams-14 to 16 inch- 14 and 16inch Prior to 1916- 12 inch- 1908 to 1927" There are 2 levers on the plow and one on the hitch. The levers point back for the operator who is behind, walking, no seat. But the wheels are listed as the same for both sides, no tail wheel. The New Deal Steel Gang was 2, 3,or 4 bottom but the 2 bottom appears the same as the on above but it uses a 26" x 4" wheel. The first plow had 26" x 3". Made about the same time, New Deal was discontinued May, 1929. Hope this helps
