Looks to be a 55H made after 1948. They were stenciled "55A-B-H" meaning it was ONE of the three; 55A, or 55B, or 55H. All the ones with Hydraulic lift and depth control were 55H models.

i agreed with BOb but want add it looks like you have rock trip hitch that means it will not come off the draw bar when you hit a rock they used a chain and pully set up that ran up to the tractor it had linkage bolted to the axel and the bolt for the clutch handelwhen you hit a rock it pulled the handel back and stoped the tractor also the driver if he had his knee in the way ask me how i know

Oh-yea...had that pleasure more times than I care to admit...!!!
Swore every time it would be the LAST time, too...
Well, swore a LOT during the recovery from the pain too...!!!
3rd and 4th gear was definitely the worst...!!
Wonder how I know that...!!

That is a nice looking plow ya got there. I believe I would put larger diam. coulters on it if it were mine.

The plow was bought new in 1952 by my great grandfather also with a 1952 A new also. I still have all of the chain and linkage for the trip, it is actually mostly on the A still. Thanks for the info

Yeah, I've got that set-up for my 55 plow and G tractor. I adjusted the clutch linkage so the lever doesn't come so far back when the plow hits a rock...and you learn to set sort of "cranked-around to the right" when you're plowing anyway so you can watch the plow better. We've got lots of "sod pebbles" here in my area. The first outfit I ever plowed with was a Farmall H and a 4B John Deere 2-14 plow with a old style break-away hitch on the plow tongue. You had to back up just right and get off and rehitch the plow with that rig when you struck a rock.

When you adjust the chain from the crank at the clutch, there should be a fairly heavy spring hanging from the crank..
Hook the chain to the bottom end of that spring, back through the guide wheel on the drawbar mount, to the plow hitch behind the trip..
Adjust the chain as short as you can and still be able to turn Left and it not interfere with using the clutch..
Get REAL Used to keeping your Rt leg hanging over the rt side of the seat...!!!
(I am not kidding...)..!!!
