John Deere Transmission

Wayne, if I remember correctly awhile back someone asked the same question and I think a lot of guys suggested diesel fuel. Pour some in and drive around the yard for just a couple minutes in a low gear then drain it out. I'd guess you could jack up one wheel and put it in gear in the shop and let it run a little to accomplish the same thing.

Wayne, while diesel fuel will work eventually I have had better luck with some Hy-Gard I have drained out of my tractors. I keep some around to do exactly this and it seems to cut the old gunk much better than the diesel fuel. I do realize this is cost prohibitive if you don't already have some on hand. Mike

We use diesel to flush the transmission on "Big John" our 70D.

The operator's manual recommends 3 gallons of "flushing agent".

As [b:654c4848f0]Wemedeeres[/b:654c4848f0] has suggested below, "[i:654c4848f0]Pour some in and drive around the yard for just a couple minutes in a low gear then drain it out[/i:654c4848f0]".

Hope this helps.

Not disagreeing with anyone but my at is to drain and catch and filter some of the old oil mix 50/50 with diesel fuel and run a while in all gears no load drain filter and repeat.

Not disagreeing with anyone, but I removed the transmission cover [ different color tractor ] and used a wood shim shingle 18" long, to scoop all the gunk / solids / congealed cr*p out of the bottom. Glad I did, it's all gone, 50+ years accumulation, flushing with anything would not have remvoed that stuff.
