What's the difference between the John Deere 4000 and the 4010 or 4020 ? Thanks

The 4000/4020 side console are new and improved.
The 4000 is a 4020 with fewer options and frills with a much lower sticker price. To entice the shopper who only cares about the lowest price.

I have heard that Deere used up its 4010 rear ends on 4020s and they called it the 4000. Not 100% sure if thats accurate, but it sounds logical.

There were only 7796 built.They had no rock- shaft covers,only 540 PTO although if have correct shaft it can be changed like 4020,smaller axles.single headlights like 71&72s, usually one outlet and diff. lock had to be ordered but had to be ordered on 4020s also. There were some differences in transmission as well.I think they were 600# lighter and $1500 or so cheaper{Guess] On todays market they bring the same or more depending on condition. the power shifts are really sought after because of low numbers [9 gas 403 diesel] I dont think the factory cab or HFWA were options.Hopes this helps

Check the parts list. The 4000 R&P is the same as the 4020 R&P.
No reverse syncro's is about the only thing a 4000 can't be optioned with. To be almost exactly the same as a 4020 that's missing the #2 on the decals.
