Jubilee hyd 2?

I have 2 questions. 1. Is the cam follower pin pressed in or threaded? My pin has about 1/8 inch wear and so does 2/3 of the cam where the rubbed against. Dealer doesn't have a pin. Thought I may make one on the lath. 2. There is a small plate on top of the lift cover. It is located on the back left corner. CNH dealer thinks this plate could be removed to add more hyd. When I removed this plate there were 4 o-rings. Dealer couldn't find any o-rings. Are o-rings required or did someone add them? Should I add some kind of gasket sealer to this plate? Thanks for your input. George

The cam follower pin is pressed in. It"s a simple 5/16" X 7/8" steel dowel (from memory, measure yours first) - almost too simple to even break out the lath. Some folks use industrial dowel stock to make one, I used the shank of a 5/16" drill bit.

The pin is very easy to remove with a pin punch but you must be very careful not to bend the arm it is in.Use something to back up the blows from your hammer. There is a CD out that shows how to do it called Hydraulic Repair For Ford Tractors that you will find helpful.Though I haven't solved my problem yet.Good luck

d, have you made any additional observations, etc. Haven't seen anything from you in awhile.

as the others said.. press the pin in .. a socket makes a good backup for knocking it out and knocking it in.

that option cover does have orings.. your cnh dealer must be a bit stupid.. the orings for that cover ar in the 10$ oring/gasket kit that is used to R&R the lift cover. i just did my naa up with hyds a couple months ago by modifying that plate and plumbing in a plain loader valve.

all the orings are in the kit.. don't need any sealer on them.

also.. you can find a hyd top cover valve or diverter valve every now and then on ebay.. might have to pay 300$ for it.. but with it, you can get hyds out of the top cover without jumping thru some hoops like I did. A local member here, TOH did the machine work on my option cover, then i followed directions by another member her who had modified his hyds.. works good too. lets you keep the 3pt lift as well.

My mistake, you are right...right front cover. There were o-rings in the oval shaped openings when I took it apart, however CNH can't find any in their books. Found some in town that may work. Need to know how to keep the O-rings in place when I install the cover plate?

I purchased a lift kit from CNH and the O-rings the size I needed weren't there. I took all the parts there so he could see what I needed. He kept saying are you sure this is a Jubilee? Do you have the numbers for the CHN O-ring kit? If I get lucky, I'll post the pic of the plate and my worn cam and pin. Replaced pin with 5/16 drill bit and made the pin cover all the cam. Old pin only covered 2/3 of cam. I need to know how to keep the O-rings in place when I turn the plate over. Thanks to all for your help. George

Andy, I used the 5/16 drill bit you suggested. First I put in the lath and sanded a little off and left 1/4 inch the 5/16 size. I found a thick spacer that fit over the old pin and wedged it between the cam and the lever that held the pin. That way, the cam backed up the lever. Worked great. Tried to post the old pin and worn cam but having difficulyt. I wish I didn't have an HP camera. It is easier to post with a Nikon. Thanks again, George

Interesting.. Is that the oem plate on that naa.. post the other side pic.. look for the casting number.

Normally I use grease to hold orings on to hyd valves and manifolds.. but I havn't seen one slotted like that before.

Is that a very early unit? I see where an oring plate was used on very early units.. almost looks like a spacer or thick gasket in the drawing.

here's the top of a standard naa plate.. 475 or 476b is the part number I think.

I'll post a pic of the underside of a regualr naa plate.

here's the bottom of the regular cover plate
.

do those eccentric cuts look machined straight.. or perhaps added in via modification?

Under the seat on the top cover is stamped NAA. The round emblem on the front of the tractor says Golden Jubilee. BTY, the oval shaped cutouts are part of the thin second plate. So, do you think my CNH dealer still doesn't know what he is doing?? He spent 2 hours looking at all possibilities and came up with nothing. I did purchase a NAA gasket kit which had the rest of the gaskets and the O-rings that would fit yours.

I recall seeing something about that style of plate somewhere along the way, but can't remember specifics. I think the thin plate didn't do anything more than hold the bathtub o-rings in place. Don't know where you could find those 'bathtub' o-rings. I would normally use grease to hold o-rings in place, but if you are using round o-rings & trying to position them to the bathtub shape, I seriously doubt grease will have the needed holding strength. Maybe 3M Weatherstrip adhesive, used very sparingly. I would test it in the hyd oil first, because I don't know what it might do in hyd oil. It looks like they milled/cast(?) slots for the passages vs a drilled passage a in those Like SouNdguy pictured. In my marked one, you can see that the end result connections are the same.

I also have a golden jubilee and recently had problems with my hydraulics, mostly with the selectrol valve. I took the valve off, apart and cleaned along with replacing all the fluid. I never found the smoking gun but the hydraulics are now working fine.

I said all that to say I had no problems with the o rings staying in place. Are you sure you have the correct size? or was I just lucky.

If I can look in the manual in 5 minutes and figure out that it may be an early model... he should be able too. the fact that it has an oring plate tells us for sure anyway.

stamped naa on the hyd top cover? hmm.. never seen one like that.

what is cast into the small option plate?

what is your serial number. forget about the round medallion... anytime in the last 50ys someone could have changed that.

early naa had the sn on the block front left side.. later models had the number on a angled boss on the bellhousing aft of the starter.

I'm betting yours is an early sn.. or the trans or at least top cover is from an early sn.

post a pic of your hyd top cover with the option plate removed, also a pic of the top of the option plate.

depending on what that top cover looks like.. it may be easier to find a new style option cover and just throw the orings in it from the top cover kit and go, and do away with the old style and the oring plate, it was a very early variant.. and there may not be CNH oring support for it.

I haven't made any more progress on my lift.I don't like to go to the barn unless I have an idea.
For what it's worth my cover plate is just like the one in Georges picture.

Were you able to find the bath tub/oval O-rings somewhere?
Ed, sorry about being stuck on the lift progress. We never figured out what changed between 'it works with air pressure on the bench' to 'it doesn't work with air pressure', did we? Stuff sure can be frustrating at times.

I didn't find the o rings in the kit either so I didn't replace them.
I gotta do some rakeing with 8n then maybe I' ll go up and stare at the jube for a while.Maybe take some pictures of my top plate.
Be back later.

Soundguy, The thin plate is what you are looking at, it is on top of the regular plate and the oval shape is slightly larger. Won't be able to finish the job for 2 weeks. May not be able to post the model # either. As far as the odd plate goes what is is what is! It worked before and had o-rings in both oval openings. The larger oval o-ring look like it was too small and didn't cover the hole properly. I was able to get an o-ring to fit the smaller properly. As for the larger hole I found one that might work. Thanks for your help. Let you know how it works when I get time to get it back together. George

Soundguy,
The numbers on the cover plate are NAA 501-D.
The numbers on the right side of the engine are EAE 6015-D. You can see the oval shape on the cover plate and nothing round has come in contact with it which tends to make me think this is original and not an after market add on that came with the new pump. I took the cover plate and all the parts with me to the CHN dealer so he had the NAA 501-D numbers and still came up empty handed. Thanks again for your help. Let me know if anyone can come up oval shaped o-rings. George

Here's a picture of the top plat on my jube.I don't know what you mean about a thin plate. The only other thing is a thick gasket.has NAA476 or 478 hard to tell.

never mind.

I KNOW the plate was on the option cover.

I was merely interested in seeing it by itself.

have fun fixing the hyds.
