Can you tell me the difference between the Jubilee 2.5 gpm replacement pistom pump and later 4.0 gpm piston pumps, also can you use a 4.0 gpm piston pump on a jubilee without adverse effects
Thanks
Bob

There are only 3 differences in the two pumps. The pump designed for the NAA has smaller pistons, smaller return springs and a head gasket( gasket between the pump body and the head of the punp) desighed for the smaller pistons.Every thing else is interchangeable The big pump will work on the NAA with a noticeable increase in lifting speed. The smaller pump will work on a 100 series tractor with a noticeable decrease in lifting speed. All NAA's were equipted from the factory with a Vicors vane pump. When the 100 series were intrudeced Ford decided to have a special program to put a small piston pump on the NAA. $39 stickes in my head as the cost of this pump to NAA oweners

The first 66,848 Hundred series tractors also got Vickers vane pumps. My 850 (s/n 57804) still has its vane pump and it still works well.

I did not know about the $39 campaign to replace NAA vane pumps. Interesting info.

You are correct. My memory is failing. The NAA hyd piston pump deal came after the first piston pumps came on the 100 series tractor (I beleive 1957); One of the things I DO remember was the fact the the NAA block had a big boss where the oil preasure guage line fastened. That had to be removed and the hole tapped deeper so there was room between the line fitting the new piston pump. Done my share of those.

the increased gpm of the newer pump will liekly cause the draft sensinf hyds in the NAA to be very sensitive.. but.. past that.. should be fine. might exhaust oil a lil slower but no biggie..

Around 30 years ago I was having my NAA repaired at the local Tech college Ag mechanics tractor repair shop. I was having trouble with the Vickers pump. I was advised to replace it with the later style piston pump because lack of avaliability of Vickers parts. The shop forman happened to be a long time ex Ford Tractor head mechanic who told me that Ford had a recall on the Vickers pumps years earlier and to have them replaced with the inproved piston style pump. He was surprised that mine lasted as long as it did. He had replaced many of them in the past. My father bought the NAA new and probably didnt respond to the recall since the Vickers was still working.
Maybe some one else remembers the recall. But thats been over 50 years ago!
