Jubilee Tractor Pros....and.....Cons...???

I have a chance to buy a Ford Jubilee at a good price I think. The tractor runs very well with no engine noise. Sheet metal is not banged up just rusty (surface). Tires, trans,PTO, and all seems to be in good working order. The guy is asking $1,900.00 dollars. Any way what are your opinions of this tractor? What I want it for is bush hogging, little disking for food plots. and maybe for using a box blade.
I now have a Farmall 140 that I use for doing this. It was given to me by my late father-in-law. But I have always wanted a Ford 8N or Massey TO series tractor. The 140 does very well just seems to be a little under powered when in tall stuff at the leas.
Thanks Very Much,
Keith

Are you sure it's a Jubilee? The Jubilee was made only 1 year- 1953. Lot's of people call any Ford tractor with a cyclops hood emblem a Jubilee. It could be anything from a actual Jubilee to a 881. $1900 is a fair price for a running, working 1953-1964 Ford tractor regardless of which model it is.
You state that you've "always wanted a Ford 8N". A Jubilee is not an 8N if that's what you've always wanted. And a Jubilee at about 35 hp is not exactly a fire-breathing powerhouse.

As the other guy says. Also a Jubilee/NAA different model but for the most part the same tractor. Any way the Jubilee will have live Hyds. unlike the 8N and neither one has live PTO which your 140 may have

If it runs good, 1900$ is a real deal.. I paid 2000$ for a NAA that needed some mechaincal and electrical work, and LOTS of cosmetic restoration.. was an interesting project.. but not nearly as fun as the 951 I got from AWHTX

Ditto that.... I havn't fired my NAA up anymore since i got the 660 and 850.. 660 is everything the NAA is.. plus live pto.. and heck.. for all the heavy stuff, I use the 850 now.. much mre ponies in the same size of machine.

Jubilee has the same problem rear hubs as the 8n plus a differential casting that was used for just one year.Hard to find if it breaks.I would avoid a Jubilee for that reason.Fellow just posted on breaking the casting last month on here.Look for a later 640 with a piston hyd pump.

Well your not 100% correct on the casting thing. Thge Jubilee and the NAA are for the most part the same tractor just different models and different years but other then the emblem the 2 are in fact the same tractor so theirs 2 years that part will interchange

I bought a Jubilee for $1200, with a bad tranny, I had the tranny completely rebuilt for $500, I've done most of the cosmetic work and minor mechanical repairs myself and upgraded the 6v system to 12v. I come across a decent 5' brush hog. Its work great mowing fields with the high stuff with no problems. I would highly recommend fabricating a ROPS for it if you have any welding skills, which is very easy to do, I've seen pics of ROPS for Jubilee's on this site. I'm very happy with my Jubilee, a great machine within its limitations, which I know I haven't reached yet.
