jump start or not ???

Hi. This has probably been asked many times--I went out to use my SC today--dead battery. Darn it anyway. It has an 8 volt battery, not a 6 volt(maybe the previous owner was trying to cover something up). Anyway the only 6 volt charger I have is a trickle charger, 1 amp. I would like to get it going quicker if possible. Can I jump start it with my truck or is this a bad idea ??? Any suggestions would be great--Thank You P.S.-I can not pull start it cause it has a loader on it and of course its on the ground.

Go ahead and jump it.I would leave the engine in the truck off,though.I've done it and never hurt anything.

Jump start it by hooking to the starter, not the battery. If you hook to the battery, don't hold your face over the battery when it blows.

Well if the battery is 100% dead it would help if you jump started it the correct way. You should never hook a 12 volt battery to any other voltage battery. I.E. never hook to a 6 or 8 volt battery or it can blow up in your face and if and when they do that its not pretty. Now yes you can jump start it by hooking it up to the frame and then to the starter its self which will turn the engine over but as I said if the battery is dead it still will not start because you need voltage for the ignintion system

Hook the positive or negative, if positive grond, then hook the other to the frame away from battery. have some do this so you can disconnect as soon as tractor starts. don't leave the 12 volt hooked up for more than it take to hit starter and start engine. While cranking it will pull most of the voltage away from the 8 volt battery so it won't hurt it. But like I said connect hit starter and disconnect.
I have done this many times and never had any trouble.

If it has a mag jump start with a 12 v just to the starter.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I used my 1 amp 6 volt charger for a couple of hours and then I used an old deep cycle battery to help jump start my super c. Made sure and ran her for a while to charge it up all the way. Thanks again guys !!!

SAFETY NOTE:
If the Super-C starter is like a Super-A, the starter terminal itself is hidden underneath the starter switch assembly mounted on top of the starter. A 12-Volt jump-start connection made to the starter switch terminal is a direct connection to the tractor battery which could, as Old said, blow up with bad consequences. If a tractor has a starter solenoid or a starter switch separate from the starter, then a direct jumper cable connection to the starter terminal is possible.
