Just bought a UB!

So I just bought a model UB gas with a widefront. It is all there but havent been running for 2 years. The question I have is when I looked up the serial # in a book. There is several UB series...( ubu ubd ube ubg) etc. what would this be that I have? thanks!

It is hard to see, all I can get is 060???? for the serial # off the tag.

The 060 prefix is for a model UBN with a single front wheel.

If it is original a wide non-adjustable front is a UBS and a wide adjustable front is a UBE. For info, a single front wheel is a UBN and the narrow two wheel tricycle front is a UBU. UB-D is probably a diesel tractor and no idea on UBG if it exists.

Moline never made a UBS (UB tractor with standard front axle). They continued building the UTS during the UB production. No such beast as a UBG either.

Adj Wide Front would be a UBE - s/n series 059 unless its diesel. You can tell what is started life as by s/n series. So just find s/n off right side of transmission case - there will also be a s/n for engine on left of block. As stated 060 would be UBN (single front), 058 would be narrow front designated UBU or more commonly just UB. All UB Engines will start 061. Fixed Wide Front (referred to as Standard Tread) would be a UTS s/n series 012.

Could also be a UBSpecial (1955 or later) if it has a flat nose but those are different series serial numbers.

Sounds like someone converted a UBN to a wide front. Kind of too bad as the UBN are much rarer - only about 200 made vs 14xx UBE's and 50xx UB

Sorry fellas... i thought that the tag on engine was the serial for the tractor.... I cant find a serial tag on the right side of the trans case? So I will not know for sure. The guy i bought it from says he thinks a 55 or 58? thanks for the moline knowledge!

Tractor s/n is on trans side about below drivers right foot on plate riveted just like engine. If tractor s/n tag is gone, best you can do is describe it - picture is worth a thousand words. U up to 52, UB 53-55, UB Special 55-58. Then figure suffixes - if its Factory Adj Wide Front then it would be UTE or UBE. The attached picture is an aftermarket wide front - note round tube vs flat beam. Note UB seat and grille.

Main distinction U vs UB is seat raised very distinct on UB. Main distinction vs UB Special is flat grille of Special like a GB.

OR ASSUMING its the original gas engine starting 06, you can date engine. 061 would be a 283B4 for a UB most likely 1953-55 s/n 06100001-06110708. If you can isolate 4th and 5th digits from right, you can pinpoint year.

There were no 060 engines as that s/n series was reserved for UBN Tractors - so you might recheck Engine s/n. The diesel engines start 048 and the 283C4 from UB Specials start 095.

So I think you have a 1953-55 UBE unless its a fixed front Axle then you probably have a 53-56 UTS.
