Out doing chores, checking wells and did a head count this morning.

Weather has finally dropped down out of the 100 degree temps and it actually felt pretty good out there for a change!

Reminds me of the Movie " The Big Country" I feel "Small" when I visit that part of the world. My son lives in Colorado and after a week of that I practically run to get back to the High Desert with our Paloverdes,Mesquites,Creasote Bush and Rattlesnakes . Speaking of Snakes, went out to the watering area this morniong and a "Red Mohave Rattler" was laying under a Salt Ceder, went to get a Snake Handler and when I got back the Critter had gone. Only problem is " I wish I knew where he went to". Nice Livestock Allan. JC

This place was lousy with 'em too when we first bought it, but the farming has pushed 'em back; haven't seen one for quite some time.

Lots and lots of deer, antelope and coyotes here. Also, rabbits everywhere ya look this year.

Allan,
I was wondering how those heifers you bought earlier were doing. Looking fine. What are they, maybe 600+ pounds now?
I have a few nice ones I wanted to keep, but am selling because of the dry weather and not enough hay. Thank goodness the Texans are buying replacements and keeping the price up. Got $1.13 and $1.16 a pound for 400 pound bull calves.
Looks like you didn't get any of that rain that is hitting Illinois and Indiana.

Savin' fuel.

Parked the Powerstroke, drove the old Chevy till it ran out of gas.

Now, if these darned horses around here loose their spunk, looks like I'll be afoot. :>(

I see more that some fat, happy cattle and a horse that is well gromed. I see a person taking time out to injoy life, like we all should do now and then. Some of the happiest times of my life was leaning over the corral fence just looking. Kenny

That's Northern Indiana. Down here in Southern Indiana we're 10 inches below normal, water companies are asking for conservation, and the last week we were setting records for heat almost daily.

allan you got some pretty healthy looking cows considering it's been so dry. all my angus was getting pretty thin since the pastures were burned off. that was until we got 2 inches of rain. :) now they are getting fat cuz i still feed them hay. keep the pic comming . i always enjoy your pictures.
have a good one!
