Over the last weekend I went to the local tractor pull. Have not pulled in years since I was 15. I decide to pull because there was only one tractor that was in the class. I decide I take my Oliver 1955. Hooked up to the sled going good not to fast. Got closer to the end Had a full pull lost traction till all of a sudden with out warning a rod decide it needed some fresh air and went right through the oil pan. I was hoping I win the class and get the prize money and I did. Some of the prize money will help to rebuild the bottom half of the engine. Did the top half last year during winter.

When you sealed up the top end you added more stress to the bottom and you found out what often happens. Good thing that rod didn't want a window in the side of the block!

That's kinda sweet & sour I guess. Like Scott said it's a good thing it didn't come out the block. Sounds like the crowd got to see a little bit too...

What class were you pulling in?

I always wonder what our tractors would do, either the 1855 that weighs in at 13,300 or my 1600 which is just a bit over 7,000.

Guess you found out why people like me always say if you do the top you better do the bottom or the bottom will blow out on you and yep yours did. I will never do just the top or just the bottom of an engine. Its either all of it or none of it, in the long run it saves money to do it all or 90% of the time it will come back and bite you on the but
