Kawasaki ignition problem

I have a FB460V Kawi engine that has no spark. I've checked the old coil and trigger module by the book and they didn't measure up so replaced both of them. Still no spark.
My question is what triggers the trigger? It's mounted to the side of the block, is there something in the engine that triggers it. This engine got very hot due to plugged cooling system.
It has me baffeled, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
David

id disconnect the kill wire on the ign module/ignitor and see if it fires.if it does fire theres a safety/kill switch acting up. if it doesnt fire with kill wire off, check coil to magnet gap,if still no spark, you got a bad coil or ign module/ignitor.

Lucasss,
I did all that and no fire. New coil and trigger module. The book says .012" gap and I set it at that. This one has me stumped.
Any ideas on what triggers the trigger.
Thanks,
David

Thanks guys,
If I figure this out I'll let you know here. I'm working on it again today.
I appreciate the help. I find by checking a bunch of sites that this is common with the Kawa's.

There is a pickup coil mounted close to the flywheel. A magnet embeded in the flywheel induces a voltage in the trigger coil as it passes by.
As previously stated. Its either wired wrong, no 12V supply or the safety system is preventing spark.

If your trigger module has no ground, it will not allow the coil to spark. When I check these out at work, I have a ground(jumper) wire hooked from the trigger directly to the block and no kill wires hooked up. With a new coil and trigger, it is possible that the flywheel magnet has lost strength and the coil/trigger does not obtain enough "signal" from the magnet to fire. This has only happened to me once in the ten years I have worked for John Deere. Thanks Pat
