Does anyone have any suggestions on getting rid of
some really nuisance kildeer. I was out firing up
the tractor, mowing a little lawn, out and about..
Every year I have these kildeer running around,
mating, nesting, and then they don't go away.
Constant squawking and complaining and the old
broken wing trick.
I've tried the fake owl, the robins seem to keep
them at bay, but once the young leave the nest the
robins take off.

I love to have them around. I get a kick out of them playing injured when I am out mowing close to a nest.

I agree with the others- I look forward to seeing the kildeer, meadowlarks and robins every spring. I try to dodge their nests when working ground in the spring.

Little baby Kildeer are cuter'n a button. I've always kind of enjoyed them. Saw one on a nest in a graveled parking lot at a small truck stop in Kansas once. I doubt if the eggs made it to hatching but? Jim

I've always tried to farm around their nests. They are such a good example of mother natures camoflage, really hard to spot 'em. The little ones look like puff balls about as big a a golf ball, only really fast on their little legs. As long as I'm farming they have a home here.

i guess im in the minority 'cuz i cant stand the squaking things either. all they do is make noise

i think there is truth to the dogs and cats comment because i dont have any near my house at all. i have to go a ways out in the field before i find any.

Momma killdeer's butt is mother nature's xerox machine! She whirrs and buzzes a little, and produces an egg, that looks just like the surface she lays it on! She would sacrifice her own life, to protect her own, unlike some humans. I marvel at them, they aren't out that long in spring, then come back to do the same thing a couple months later. If at all possible, I leave them alone, they don't hurt anything.

now you are talkin' re blackbirds. I have grackles, redwing, cowbirds and starlings at my feeder. Then comes blue jays, red bellys, cardinals, and finches...all's well again

Sounds like some of my neighbors, and I can`t shoot at `em for it.
