where does the Killefer name come from that is with alot of john deere equipment?

"A Two-Cylinder magazine article cited on Wikipedia states that John Killefer founded Killefer Manufacturing Company in San Bernardino, California, in 1893, then relocated it to Los Angeles, California, in 1895. A John Deere information site at http://www.greenmagazine.com/mr_thinker.html states that Killefer produced equipment for Deere until Deere acquired Killefer in 1937, and Deere closed the former Killefer plant Jan 6 1969."
