Kobalt air compressor

Leaks down real slow. I can't hear or feel the air escaping but comes on pretty often when I'm not using it. I'm guessing maybe a reed valve leaking if it has a reed valve. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks Tommy

Soapy water in a spritzer bottle on all of the threaded connections will find the leak. Probably the QD.

Hello Tom,

Look under the compressor where the bleed valve is. Sometimes they do not seat 100% after you drain the water......

Check the check valve in the line between the compressor and tank. Have replaced one in both compressors at work this Winter.

If your compressor is plumbed in to the building, the leak could be anywhere in the system.

I agree with TRK... NOT sure if things have gotten even cheaper lately, but, conventionally, there is a check valve or unloader between the compressor and tank, which is SUPPOSED to prevent any backflow of air.

The stored air pressure should not reach the reed valves in the head.

check the OP valve and any QD's mounted right on the tank

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have been strapped for time several days and have not had a chance to check any further. Hopefully by the weekend, I can check it out. I will post back when I find the trouble. Thanks again, Tommy

Finally got back to the air compressor this weekend. Soaped it good , had a small leak around the drain plug. Couldn't make it seal so I replaced the peacock. Maybe that will do it, Thanks for the help. Tommy
