Kobalt sockets, can't find replacements

Bought a nice set of 1/2 drive Kobalt impact sockets at a auction and it had 1 missing, knew it so not a bad price, went to Lowes and they have nothing to replace it and so far they can't even get a replacement socket, so watch what kind of tools you buy.

I might be wrong on this,,but it was my understanding that Kobalt brand was a line produced by SnapOn just for Lowes. My store here in Michigan has a full line of these tools and stands behind those that are returned broken. My neighbor works there and has so informed me. Try another location, maybe they have better customer service.

That's right, no replacement pieces. How very nice and usefull.

If this is a set to be used for work, buy a Craftsman socket in the desired size to complete the set and get busy with the economic recovery.

You'vce uncovered the "gotcha" of a lot of tool set "lifetime warranties." If one piece fails, you have to bring the set in for replacement..and if you've lost one socket out of the set, you're skrooed on the warranty because you therefore don't have the entire set to swap for the new set. And most stores won't break up a set just to swap out your broken piece, lifetime warranty notwithstanding.

So beware of ANY tool set with a so-called "lifetime warranty" that isn't sold by individual pieces as well. I learned that the hard way.

Hi Don. I bought tools from the Home Depot several years ago. Then the Husky brand was all made in the USA. I can still get a piece replaced but now their Husky is all made in Taiwan. It would be like trading down in quality.

Lowes sells single sockets look by the hand power tools....China....

You bought it at auction for a good price. So just get the one socket from any good supplier, like Sears (Craftsman) or a True Value hardware, or anywhere you trust and don't worry about it not being a Kobalt. You will burn up more gas and time looking for that one Kobalt socket when you could just use a good Craftsman just as well.
